Goal: Launched in January 2018, the Aspirational Districts Programme (ADP) aims to rapidly improve the lives of people in 112 of India’s most underdeveloped districts.
Approach: The program is built on three pillars:
Collaboration: Central and state governments, along with district leaders, work together.
Convergence: Existing government schemes are combined for maximum impact.
Competition: Districts are ranked monthly based on progress across 49 key indicators, encouraging healthy competition and learning.
Focus: The program targets five key areas: health & nutrition, education, agriculture & water resources, financial inclusion & skill development, and infrastructure.
Progress Tracking: The “Champions of Change” dashboard publicly displays district rankings and performance data.
Impact: By empowering districts, improving people’s ability to participate in the economy, and fostering collaboration, the ADP aims to achieve inclusive growth and fulfill the vision of “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas aur Sabka Vishwas” (collective effort, inclusive growth, and mutual trust).
